The Power of the Land

England Glastonbury

That year’s Avalon Retreat was full, but I waited a year, and this summer of 2023 my turn came.

As jet lagged as I was, the moment I stepped onto British soil I had my usual sense of coming home.

The feeling began while we were still in the air and the clouds parted and I saw the rolling hills of Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wales.

Driving through the countryside tears of joy coated my lashes. My heart burst open. A sigh of relief parted my lips.

The power of the Land…

With a British-born mother and an English-Canadian father with roots in England and Ireland, I sometimes feel more British than Canadian.

The opportunity to visit my homeland and learn more about who I am, who Mary Magdalene was, and to learn directly from the waters, stones and land Herself was meant to be.

However, this wasn’t going to be a simple guided tour of Glastonbury and sacred sites with a nice group of women. I knew deep within my bones that this would be a significant healing journey as well.

Having been on the spiritual healing path for the past few years, I was nervous. I’ve had some dark nights of the soul and although it feels great on the other side, going through them is difficult. (To say the least.)

I arrived a few days early to find my footing, figuratively and literally. And I had some meaningful, soulful experiences on my own.

But the real work began in circle. A group of 30 women, from various countries and religious backgrounds, held space together on powerfully charged land for a week.

The word ‘breakthrough’ barely summarizes what happened. But I’ll do my best in the coming posts.
